Palingenesis: rebirth / regeneration
Old analogue snapshots offer a unique glimpse of someone as they were for a brief moment in time. What stories they could tell if only they could speak, all photographs both reveal and conceal. Years pass; all that remains are flat silent pieces of paper.
Working with vintage pictures once belonging to my late parents’ re-printed on instant film I use a combination of physical and digital techniques to breathe new life into their monotoned images. Each new incarnation a palimpsest of an unknown past and fabricated present.
