Palingenesis
Palingenesis: rebirth / regenerationÂ
An old snapshot of someone no longer here is a unique version of them at a particular moment in time; but all have multilayered histories that remain unseen, and unknown.
Working with my late parents’ archive I re-print their monotoned analogue photographs on instant film which I physically manipulate using bleach, the results of which are unpredictable. These are then re-photographed and digitally edited. Through this process I create a new life, a contemporary, more colourful, existence for each person; a palimpsest of an undetermined past and a new, fabricated, present.
